Inaugural Cohort of EntreEd’s Master Teacher Program Begins in Chattanooga, TN

On July 21-22, 2021, EntreEd hosted a Master Teacher Certification in Chattanooga, TN. Over fifty educators from seven Appalachian states (KY, NC, OH, PA, TN, VA, WV) attended and engaged in two full days of experiential learning. The opportunity was made possible by a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation for EntreEd’s Fostering Self ESTEAM in Appalachia’s Emerging Workforce project.

Training participants learned how to create an entrepreneurial classroom and culture in their school and bring EntreEd’s entrepreneurship model to their communities. On day 1, trainers, Toi Hershman and Amber Ravenscroft, started with entrepreneurship education basics to build a strong foundation, and then dove into essential components such as entrepreneurial mindsets, business canvases, and experiential launch cycle for a deeper understanding. Experiential learning through many hands-on activities brought the concepts to life.

On day 2 of the training, educators applied what they learned to their own school to create an entrepreneurial vision, and in turn gained an understanding of how to foster an entrepreneurial culture with EntreEd’s America’s Entrepreneurial Schools program and engage their community. To wrap up the training, attendees designed a complete entrepreneurial strategy for their schools and addressed how they will proceed in the future with implementation. EntreEd Director of Programming, Toi Hershman said, “The Master Teacher Training was a huge success! We were delighted to host amazing educators who will become the catalysts for entrepreneurship education in their schools. Teachers will bring new ideas back to their classrooms and work with other teachers and administrators to develop a whole-school entrepreneurial culture that will positively impact every student.” This is the inaugural cohort of EntreEd’s Master Teacher Program, and they will be working towards full certification this fall.
